In a thought-provoking scholarly article titled  "Journalistic Innovation: How Novel Digital Formats Shape the Landscape,"  authors Carlos Lopezosa, Lluís Codina, and Pere Freixa delve into the world of digital journalism's transformative evolution. Their meticulous analysis scrutinizes emerging formats such as structured journalism, immersive storytelling, 360° video reports, virtual and augmented reality in journalism, newsgames, and docugames. The investigation commences by dissecting the scholarly literature, deciphering the academic impact of these formats while tracing their evolutionary trajectory.

 

Unearthing insights from leading researchers, the authors probed into the future of journalism and the shifting paradigms of news formats. The culmination of this exploration reveals that the zenith of academic publications concerning journalistic innovation manifested in 2019. Notably, Digital Journalism, Journalism Practice, and Profesional de la Información emerged as vanguards in this transformative arena.

 

The article illuminates the profound impact of innovation on four key facets of journalism : information and content, audience engagement, methodologies and resources, and the dynamics of news media companies. This comprehensive evaluation underscores the interplay between technological advancements and journalism's multifaceted dimensions.

 

Shifting gears, a recent three-day residential workshop hosted at the Press Institute of Bangladesh (PIB) unraveled the world of mobile journalism for Gopalganj reporters. The event, held from August 25 to 27, aimed to bolster the proficiency of reporters in leveraging modern devices for journalism. The workshop's closing ceremony saw the esteemed presence of Md Shahid Ullah Khandaker, former secretary and coordinator of Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina's constituency Gopalganj-3 (Tungipara-Kotalipara).

 

The ceremony, graced by PIB Director General Zafar Wazed, acknowledged the contributions of PIB assistant trainer Zilhaj Uddin Nipun, journalism expert Dr Zamil Khan, and Sabbir Ahmed, chief mobile reporter of Bangladesh Times. Certificates were conferred upon participants by Md Shahid Ullah Khandaker and Zafar Wazed, echoing a commitment to nurturing the next generation of media trailblazers.
