Say whatever you want about this generation; this is the time of evolution, inspiration, and success. The time is now to dream.
Movies and books play a huge role in the success of individuals nowadays.
Today, youth do not want to sit still. They want to explore. They want to conquer. And books and movies are a source of inspiration these days. Everyone is busy doing things, conquering their fears, and grabbing their opportunities. They have no time for advice or suggestions for the new generation. So, the new generation has shifted its source of inspiration towards books and movies.
Books allow you to dream and fantasize. Books teach you things the real world will never give you the opportunity to.
Allow me to quote The Alchemist...
“It's the possibility of having a dream come true that makes life interesting.”
“The secret of life, though, is to fall seven times and to get up eight times."
Today's youth may forget to carry handkerchiefs because that may be a tad old-fashioned for them, but they don’t forget to carry books. On the metro, on a bus, and in coffee shops. Books have become their everyday life. Yes, some might only carry them with the intention of feeling aesthetic, a Gen Z term for cool.
Books are teachers in themselves. Through books, they learn self-growth, they improve their mindset, and they learn to love. Books teach us skills such as empathy, compassion, communication, language, history, and culture. Overall, the book teaches us how to become a better person. Which is more than anyone can ever teach.
And movies, oh movies. If a book teaches you to dream, then a movie teaches you to realize your dream.
Movies show you the struggle behind the scenes. It offers compassion, heartbreak, and self-reflection, and they surely do motivate you.
And there are moments when you are stuck in awe after you finish a book or a movie. That moment in which you realize that this was all worth it. Today, youth yearn for that moment. They yearn for when their father calls and says that he’s proud of him. That moment is what today's youth yearn for.
No matter what people tell you, words and ideas can change the world.
