Budget Focuses on Strengthening Education, Skill Development, and AI: Husien Dohadwalla, Co-Ceo, Crimson Schools

According to Husien Dohadwalla, Co-CEO of Crimson Schools, this year’s budget presents a significant shift in the education sector, introducing measures to enhance both foundational and advanced learning. 

 

This year’s budget introduces key measures to strengthen both foundational and advanced learning. Beginning with the Bharatiya Bhasha Pustak Scheme, which aims to provide digital-form Indian language books, the Budget has taken a step toward making education more inclusive and accessible across school and higher education. 

 

Enabling subject comprehension in native languages will help bridge learning gaps and support deeper engagement. For skill development, the establishment of five National Centres of Excellence for Skilling will align education with industry needs, equipping students with the competencies required for a 'Make for India, Make for the World' workforce.

 

 Complementing this, the expansion of Atal Tinkering Labs will nurture early-stage STEM learning, encouraging innovation at the school level. Although currently focused on government schools, this initiative signals a broader shift, prompting private institutions to continue strengthening their innovation ecosystems to help students remain competitive and develop 21st-century skills.

 

The establishment of a ₹500 crore Centre of Excellence in AI for Education marks a notable development toward integrating AI into learning frameworks. AI-driven personalized education has the potential to bridge accessibility gaps, enhance adaptive learning models, and transform pedagogical methods. While AI can contribute to more inclusive and efficient education systems, its effective adoption requires careful attention to ethics, data privacy, and regulatory frameworks.

 

In higher education, 6,500 additional seats across IITs will contribute to building a stronger research ecosystem. In medical education, the addition of 10,000 seats next year and a target of 75,000 new seats over five years will expand opportunities for students, creating avenues for them to pursue STEM education in India rather than seeking options abroad.

While these initiatives establish a solid foundation, their success hinges on equitable implementation, comprehensive teacher training, and seamless industry-academia collaboration to convert policy intent into measurable educational progress.
